I've only been taking classes from here for approx. four months now, but I've learned so much in that short time. From day 1, everyone makes you feel like family and clearly wants to see you do your absolute best. A great school, full of great people!

Our experience with (Apexx) has been great. My son is learning such great skills and character traits from his instructors. I love how they teach respect and discipline. I can tell that it's making him pay closer attention to adults. And he's setting goal after goal because he wants to be like his instructors. For me, I'm very happy because I'm seeing a lot of growth in him.

We really enjoyed our trial experience at WR Martial Arts. I was very impressed with how they interacted with my rowdy 3 year old and have seen a big difference in his behavior at home. My 5 year old also learned A LOT in a very short amount of time. We are giving our kids a chance to check out some different sports but if they decide they want to continue with Taekwondo - we will definitely be coming back here! Great staff and program.

My son had his 9th B-day party here and oh my gosh...so much fun!! The kids loved it! Never a dull moment. Games, food, class and a beautiful sword to cut the cake with. Best part...he keeps the sword! What a great addition to a great day. Great value! My son will remember this party for a long time.

Stress and anxiety is an epidemic among children and teens. It’s serious enough to affect their mental and physical health, and it can even lead to suicide. Here are 6 strategies that you can implement into your daily routine to reduce the stress in your child to make their lives better.

  1. What is stress and anxiety?
  2. How and why does it affect children?
  3. How to know if your child is suffering from stress and anxiety
  4. What can you do to reduce your child’s stress and anxiety?

  1. What is stress and anxiety?

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States.  Every year, anxiety disorders affect 40 million adults in the U.S.  Anxiety disorders can be hard to recognize because they can take many forms.  They can affect people of any age, gender, or economic status.  Anxiety disorders can be serious, sometimes resulting in disability.  However, with treatment, people can recover from an anxiety disorder.

  1. How and why does it affect children?

Children are more vulnerable to stress than adults. This is because they have not yet developed all of the coping skills that adults have. There are many different types of stress. Some stress is good, as it helps children to stay alert and ready to deal with challenges. It is called eustress. Another kind of stress is called distress. This is when a child has too much to deal with, and it is the type of stress that we most often hear about.

  1. How to know if your child is suffering from stress and anxiety

A child that constantly has feelings of worry, anxiety, fear, insecurity, or self-consciousness. It is normal for every child to have some of these feelings at some time during their childhood, but when a child has too many of these feelings on a regular basis, they may have an anxiety disorder. Childhood stress and anxiety can be caused by a number of different factors. These include family stress, school stress, health issues, bullying, the loss of a loved one, family conflict, and a divorce.

  1. What can you do to reduce your child’s stress and anxiety?
  • Focus on the positives in their life. It’s easy to have negative thoughts
  • Schedule activities that are not competitive
  • Reward your child when they are brave enough to face their fears
  • Encourage your kids to express their anxiety
  • Stay Calm
  • Make sure they understand giving up on reducing stress and anxiety are non-optional
